12:48 a.m. - 06.02.2004 First I would like to just say: SCHOOOOOL'S OUT FOR SUUUMMMMER! Thursday was my last day and you can bet your sweet ass I'm extra, super-duper happy about that. I have that 6th grade kind of joy where you feel the whole summer of freedom stretching out in front of you. I still have to work, of course, but only 3 days a week. I really should get another job because I could use the extra money, but I'll worry about that later. Onto the weekend...Friday night I went to see Metric and The Stills with my best friend A. and this new boy, ML. It was an amazing time. Metric was so fucking good, even better than I hoped and I really love their latest album. Emily, the lead singer, was so witty and really had the crowd in the palm of her hand. The Stills were good, too, but for me, Metric blew them away even though they were the opening band. The show was over by about midnight which was good because I was very tired. Saturday morning we sat around talking while drinking coffee and eating cherries (mmmm, cherries are so good right now!) before going out to brunch. I could talk to ML for days and days and never run out of things to discuss. I'm so glad we've started hanging out. Saturday afternoon and evening I hung out with my best friend A. and watched movies at her place. She just got the comfy-est couch ever and a big TV, so I think we'll spend a lot of time relaxing over there this summer. I was really tired because I didn't get very much sleep Friday, so it was good to relax with good monster movies, good weed and good Thai food for dinner. Sunday I had to get up early to drive to my parents so we could drive together to my sister's summer place, which is about an hour and a half past my parent's house. It's on a lake about 2 1/2 hours out of Chicago. It rained the entire time. Seriously. On the way to my parent's house I had to pull over on the highway 3 times because I couldn't see a thing. We should have just stayed home but whatevs. It was fun anyway. I played Monopoly and Yatzhee with the kids and then we fell asleep watching Willlow. I got home about 4 pm on Sunday, again driving through the rain. I was all set to update my diary and get myself organized last night but I got a horrible migrane and had to get in bed at 8 p.m. Ugh. That was not fun, it's mostly gone now but there is a dull throb in my skull. I hope it goes away soon. I'm at work right now but I almost stayed home. This week should be really good. Today after work I'm going to a movie with my friends, Wednesday my friends are coming in town and I'm soooo excited to see them, Thursday is my birthday, Friday is The Long Winters/Decemberists show and Saturday is my birthday party. Hurray!
